DAYDREAMS MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND. THEY ENCOURAGE US TO REACH FOR THE SKIES WHEN WE DREAM OF DESIGNING SKYSCRAPERS; TO UNLOCK FANTASTIC MYSTERIES HIDDEN IN VAST SEAS WHEN WE IMAGINE SWIMMING WITH GREAT WHITE SHARKS OR WITH MERMAIDS; THEY CONVINCE US THAT THE CLOUDS CHANGE SHAPE TO TELL US HOW WE FEEL; THAT WE HAVE POWERS THAT NO ONE ELSE HAVE; AND THEY BRING OUT OUR INNER CHILD WHEN WE IMAGINE OURSELVES HULA HOOPING ON A STREET CORNER ON THE LOWER EAST SIDE IN DOLCE GABBANA DEMI COUTURE, AZZEDINE ALAÏA BOOTIES AND INSANE MERCURA SUNNIES .
Thank you Vogue Nippon, Anna Dello Russo, Marc Seliger and Sissy Vian for inviting me to participate in this story. It was a beautiful daydream come true.
Viva la passione di ADR--2011
It's no secret that Anna Dello Russo dazzled and wowed us this past year. And exactly how did she do it? Obvious question? Yes, I know. But it is was more than the countless fantabulous looks with which she graced international fashion weeks. It was her passion that really stopped other well respected editors in their tracks; that elicited compliments like, "that Anna is amazing, how she inspires me"; and that dominated conversations at aperitivos in the lobbies of fashion- friendly hotels. And it is with Anna's passion that I'd like to approach 2011. I've always considered myself a passionate person, but Anna's inexhaustible passion for la moda has inspired me to look further outside the box for hidden possibilities; and to consider how I can further push myself. Her passion also made me reconsider the meaning of the word in terms of the things that are important to me today: passion allows you to believe; to love and be loved; to be creative; to be happy; to measure your own success; to be yourself; and to define your style :-). What about you? What does passion mean to you? What is your motivation for 2011?
Grazie Anna! Viva la passione! Viva la moda!

Anna Dello Russo in a Fall/Winter 2010 dress by emerging Italian designer Franceso Scognamiglio. Anna is a huge supporter of up-and-coming Italian designers. Do you remember the look by Umit Benan that she wore during the Milan men's collections?
That's one serious belt, don't you think? When we asked Anna whether it was heavy, she replied "very heavy!" Always a trooper for fashion La Signora Dello Russo.

Smooth Operator
I've been dreaming of a double-breasted suit (DBS) for a while now. My mother-in-law had a couple custom made last year. Grey cashmere for the cold winter months and white linen for the hot summer months. Devastatingly chic! I always struggle to keep my composure when she wears them.
Just like I had to struggle two days ago when Anna showed up to the Gucci show in this sick Umit Benan DBS. Giving off a total "Smooth Operator" vibe, she expertly contrasts this midnight-blue menswear staple with a white, ruffle button-down; a lovely play on the feminine meets masculine theme that has enjoyed airtime for the past few seasons. Also lovely is the way she accessorizes the look with statement turquoise jewelry.
Note: Umit won L'Uomo Vogue & Pitti Immagine's first menswear edition of 'WHO IS ON NEXT' this past summer.
