Joanna has an amazing sense of style. She is consistent with her edgy-chic silhouettes, which often have some whimsical element of surprise. If I still lived in NY, she would definitely be someone with whom I would love to go shopping. Joanna! I will be in NYC all of August! Call me!

Graduation Day
Simo and I ran into these new graduates in Brera the other day. We both liked their looks and asked them for a picture. While chatting with them, we learned that their outfits were actually costumes for their graduation presentation. In Italy the graduation ceremony, "La Laurea," entails a final thesis presentation in front of a panel of professors.
The subject of their thesis was based on a historical cultural event in Germany. I was really impressed with how they used contemporary dress to recreate fashions of the time. A move that underscores the timeless influence of historical iconic clothing on modern fashion. The men's coat, waistcoat and long hose are substituted by a trench, vest and leggings. The leather jacket and tassel are a fun take on harlequin dress. Good job kids, you fooled me.
